While it might not sound like the most serious condition at first blush, inverted nipples can become something of a serious issue if left uninvestigated and untreated. In some women they can pose problems with breastfeeding, or in others they might simply cause feelings of self-consciousness.
Inverted Nipple Correction in Newport Beach
In either case, Wirth Plastic Surgery offers inverted nipple correction to patients in Newport Beach and the surrounding areas, restoring the appearance and function of your breasts to their previous and natural state. Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS has extensive experience with breast-related reconstruction procedures, and will work with you to ensure that your cosmetic desires are met and you’re able to enjoy the body you know you deserve.
What Can I Expect?
The inverted nipple correction procedure is done on an outpatient basis, which means you’ll be able to return home the very same day, and your downtime should be relatively minimal (compare with other, more extensive breast reconstruction procedures).
Dr. Wirth will discuss the surgical technique he intends to use with you before your surgery, as he might choose from one of a few different procedures, depending on the specifics of your issues, your body type, and other factors that will be determined and discussed during your consultation.
He’ll craft a surgical plan that is tailored to you and your unique needs, and go over everything with you before getting started, so you’ll know exactly what to expect, and feel comfortable every step of the way.
Will This Procedure Change My Nipple Sensation?
This is, in all honesty, difficult to predict ahead of time. Changes in nipple sensation are relatively infrequent, and with most patients, there is no major change in nipple sensation. This does occur in some instances, though, in which case the nipple can become either more or less sensitive. Worth pointing out, however, is that the change in nipple sensation is often less of an impact than it is to have the inverted nipple corrected in the first place.
Can I Breastfeed After Inverted Nipple Correction?
Your ability to breastfeed will primarily depend on your level of nipple sensation after your procedure, as breastfeeding does require full sensation in the nipple. Dr. Wirth will take extra care to ensure that your milk ducts are preserved, so that milk can still flow through — but this will require full sensation, which will have to be determined once your procedure has been completed.
