Childbirth is an incredible life event, but it can often lead to some less-than-ideal changes to the body. While some of these changes might naturally fade away, it’s not uncommon for women to notice that others don’t, which is why Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS offers the mommy makeover to patients in Newport Beach and the surrounding areas who are looking to reclaim their pre-pregnancy bodies, so you can love the way you look.
Can a mommy makeover help me lose weight?
A mommy makeover is not a weight loss procedure, but when fat and tissue is removed, you will lose some weight. The goal is to resculpt and restore your body. You may need lliposuction to remove fatty deposits at the waist, buttocks, and thighs, so you will lose some weight through that process.
Do I have to be a mom to get a mommy makeover?
Dr. Wirth performs custom body recontouring for any person, man or woman, who has lost a great deal of weight after bariatric surgery or diet and exercise. You do not have to be a mother to undergo our custom body recontouring treatments.
What kind of anesthesia will be used in a mommy makeover?
You may be put under general anesthesia or under intravenous sedation with local anesthesia. The type of anesthesia will be chosen based upon the extent of the corrections you need, with a focus on what would be safest for your health.
When can I return to work?
Expect to miss one to two weeks of work after your mommy makeover. You need time to heal, rest, and recover, and rushing the process is not advised.
When can I go back to my exercise program?
You will need to wait at least six weeks before going back to performing any vigorous exercise, including yoga. It is important that no stress is placed on the abdominal muscles, so the incisions heal correctly.
How long does the surgery take?
If you are having a tummy tuck and a breast lift, lift with augmentation, or other breast surgery, you can expect your surgery to take in the range of three hours to complete.
When will I be able to drive?
You will not be allowed to operate a vehicle until you are off painkillers (which is about one week or less), and your full range of motion is restored.
When can I wear a bathing suit?
Most people feel “beach ready” within about two to three months, after residual swelling is gone.
When will I see the final results?

When can I wear a real bra?
