Is Liposuction an option?
So many men and woman struggle with the look of their abdomen. This troubles both men and women and can be more difficult to address/correct with age. Even after proper diet and exercise, a lot of people still struggle with how to refine the look of their belly. Luckily, with modern cosmetic surgery from Doctor Garrett Wirth, many people can get liposuction to solve several of their problems.
Am I Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery option that can help reduce excess fat around midsection when diet and exercise haven’t worked. In this process, the skin will often contract down as well. The ideal candidate for liposuction is someone seeking a tighter and flatter abdomen that just needs to adjust some contours. Most men and women would say that they are seeking this, but those who qualify for liposuction meet specific recommendations by Dr. Wirth. This is not a good option for someone who just wants to lose weight.
Liposuction is the second option for men and women who have tried all they could with diet and exercise. Actually, most patients already have an ideal weight for their height. Other recommendations for liposuction include that the patient has good overall health and that women have finished having children.
There are a few factors that can lead to protruding midsections. Some of these factors include:
- Pregnancy
- Significant weight loss
- Aging
About Liposuction Surgery & Recovery
Liposuction is a relatively straightforward surgery. The time required for liposuction varies based on how much fat is planned for removal, and how many areas the liposuction surgery will be performed on.
You will be sedated under general anesthesia for the time of the procedure. Dr Wirth will then inject the area with a tumescent solution. Then they will insert a small suction tube attached to an ultrasound generator through a small incision beneath your skin. Ultrasound waves loosen and liquefy the fat under your skin; once this combines with the injected fluid it creates an emulsion. This solution is then removed from the body with vacuum pressure. This is for ultrasound assisted lipo (like vaser).
After allowing for the proper time for numbing medication and the other medications to take effect, the fat removal will begin. The areas of fat removal, as well as the volume of fat removed, is generally determined before surgery and will be “fine-tuned” during the surgery. The very small incisions will be closed and, frequently, a post-operative compression garment will be used with or without foam dressings.
Recovery varies from patient to patient. Most people feel well after about a week and the bruising will be going away around that time as well. You should expect to continue to wear compression garments for several weeks after surgery to assist in achieving optimal results. Also, please note that changes will continue for many weeks to months after surgery. Dr. Wirth will help you at every step in your journey.
