Can You Really Get Rid Of Turkey Neck?
The unfortunate term, ‘turkey neck’ refers to loose, sagging, or wrinkled skin on the neck. It can also refer to submental fat deposits beneath the chin that create a fuller appearance down the neck. It isn’t the nicest term, but it is a common expression we hear and a frequently asked question. The good news is yes, you can get rid of it.
It is quite normal for the delicate skin on the neck to show signs of aging over time. And, for some, it is where the body stores fat cells, even despite being a healthy weight. However, that doesn’t mean you have to live with it. If the loose skin on your neck has been bothering you, then we have some good news. There are two effective options for removing the sagging skin and enhancing a more youthful appearance.
Neck Lift
A neck lift is a very popular cosmetic procedure. It only takes around 3 hours or so – depending on your situation – and often doesn’t require an overnight stay. So you can be in and out within the day. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. In a nutshell, a neck lift procedure is performed by making small incisions and then removing excess skin and fat from the neck. The neck skin is then re-draped across the neck to present a smoother look. This is a simplified explanation of a neck lift, however, you can find more information here.
Kybella
If cosmetic surgery isn’t your thing, then a Kybella treatment is an excellent option. It is known as the non-invasive way to get rid of the ‘double chin’ appearance. Kybella is an FDA approved injectable that helps to dissolve fat cells. So your highly trained cosmetic specialist will inject into the target area and this only takes around 15 minutes. It is likely you will see results from the first treatment however 2-3 treatments are required to get the final results.
The great feature of getting Kybella injections is that they produce a permanent result, unlike some other injectables. So without surgery, you can see lasting results within a few months, with pretty much no downtime. Again, this is a short explanation of the procedure. If you want more detail, please read about our Kybella treatments here. Please note that although Kybella is well suited to reduce the appearance of a double chin, unlike a neck lift, it doesn’t remove loose skin.
