20 Year Reunion Ready
Twenty years has come and gone, and that time is potentially showing on your face. If you have already undergone prior procedures and began a skincare treatment, congratulations! A foundation has been laid, and now less procedures are necessary to help you become reunion ready. If this is your first time considering surgery and/or cosmetic treatments, much can still be done to help you look and feel your best for your upcoming reunion.
Certain procedures, such as blepharoplasty and brow lifts, should be performed a year prior to your reunion. Others, such as Botox, generally do not necessitate such advance planning. However, because the timeline depends on the procedure(s) you have selected, it is important to contact Dr. Garrett Wirth as soon as possible for an initial consultation and optimal results.
In today’s society, most people want to appear younger than they really are. Reunions are no exception! Unfortunately, fine lines can appear on your face at a relatively young age, but you don’t have to put up with them. Botox is a popular option that targets wrinkles and requires no surgery. Dr. Wirth will dispense the Botox through a series of injections that block nerve cell activity and therefore muscle activity, resulting in smoother skin and fewer lines. It is recommended that you receive Botox four to six weeks prior to your reunion, as it is not a permanent procedure.
Botox use is not limited to your face. It can also be used to create a smoother, more defined neck. This is known as a Nefertiti Neck Lift. In a Nefertiti Neck Lift, Botox injected into your lower jaw line and into the platysma muscle (the unsightly muscle bands running vertically between your chin/jawline and your collar bones at the base of your neck). Similar to other Botox procedures, it is not permanent and can be performed every three to four months.
Blepharoplasty
Beautiful eyes make a fantastic first (or second!) impression. But if excess skin and fat around your upper and/or lower eyelids obscure your eyes and make you look older, you may want to consider blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from around the upper and lower eyelids. To do this, Dr. Wirth will remove the unwanted skin and fatty deposits by making incisions and then carefully separating the skin from the tissue. You will be left with more open, youthful eyes. This procedure should be done one year in advance of your reunion.
Brow Lift
Chances are the last time you saw your classmates, your forehead was line-free. But worry, frustration and anger can leave their mark on your face in the form of wrinkles long after the emotions have passed. This common sign of aging can be lessened with a brow lift. Dr. Wirth will perform the procedure by making the appropriate incisions necessary to achieve your desired results. This can vary from a small series of incisions (3-5) and using specialized equipment and cameras (endoscopic brow lift), to 2 small incisions, such as the temporal brow lift. He will then gently expose the tissue beneath your forehead skin and remove the excess tissue, thus repositioning and lifting the eyebrows. Ideally, your brow lift should be completed one year before your reunion as it takes three to four months for results (which are permanent) to be fully visible.
