Turn Back Time With A Breast Lift

Your breasts are an important part of your appearance and a key component to your sense of self-confidence, so it’s never ideal to notice that they’ve begun to sag, droop, or generally lose their youthful, supple shape.

A breast lift with Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS can provide a more youthful-looking breast profile by:

  • Lifting the breasts
  • Removing any excess or sagging skin
  • Tightening the surrounding tissue without altering the size or volume of your breasts

What Are The Benefits of Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, offers numerous benefits for women seeking to rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of their breasts. Here are some of the main benefits:

  • Restores a more youthful and uplifted breast contour
  • Addresses sagging or drooping breasts caused by aging, pregnancy, or weight loss
  • Improves breast firmness by repositioning tissue and tightening skin
  • Boosts self-confidence and enhances body image
  • Customizable procedure for tailored aesthetic goals
  • Provides natural and proportionate results without significantly altering breast size.

How Does a Breast Lift Work?

Before your breast lift in Newport Beach with Dr. Wirth, you will receive anesthesia to reduce intraoperative pain and discomfort as your surgery begins. Dr. Wirth will then make a series of incisions which usually follow one of three patterns: around the areola (periareolar); around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease (“lollipop”); or around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and then horizontally along the breast crease (“anchor”).

After making the necessary incisions, Dr. Wirth will lift and reshape underlying breast tissue, and reposition the nipple and areola to a more youthful-looking height and position. If needed, he will also reduce the size of your areolas and remove any excess skin surrounding the breast. Finally, all incisions will be sutured.

What Types Of Incisions Are Used In A Breast Lift?

I offer a variety of breast lift procedures, each with its own unique incision approach. The available options include:

  • Concentric or "Donut" Incision: This incision encircles the areola completely and tends to become nearly imperceptible once it has fully healed.
  • Circumvertical or "Lollipop" Incision: Similar to the concentric incision, this approach also encircles the areola but extends downwards with a vertical line towards the lower part of the breast.
  • Inverted T or "Anchor" Incision: The inverted T incision encompasses the entire areola, descends vertically to the lower breast area, and then extends horizontally along the inframammary crease where the breast meets the chest wall.

In all instances, our surgical team meticulously creates and closes incisions with great care and precision, aiming to minimize the visibility of any resulting scars.

What Happens After Surgery?

Immediately following your breast lift surgery, your incisions will be dressed and bandaged. You may also be given compression garments or a support bra to help decrease swelling and to support your breasts. Until all swelling and soreness subside, be careful that your incisions do not experience any significant stress, motion, or abrasion. As always, be sure to follow any post-operative instructions Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS, or his staff may give you.

Not only is everyone here so sweet, but Dr. Wirth's work is just phenomenal. He listens, is patient, and will work with you to give you exactly what you are looking for. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the entire staff, from everyone at the office to everyone in their surgery room. I am so happy with my results!! My experience with Dr. Wirth has been great, I look forward to future procedures and wouldn't go anywhere else besides Dr. Wirth's office.

What Do I Do After My Breast Lift Surgery?

After your breast lift in Newport Beach with Dr. Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS, our goal is to have you enjoying your lovely new breasts as soon as possible. We'll work closely with you to make sure you're provided with thorough aftercare instructions, and you can also follow these recovery tips to speed up the healing process:

  • Arrange for a friend or family member to help you for the first day or two after surgery. Your body needs to rest, expending its energy on healing.
  • Follow your aftercare instructions in the letter. This includes caring for your incisions as directed, taking all medications properly, and having plenty of rest.
  • Do not take any supplements or medications unless cleared by Dr. Wirth, as some supplements have blood-thinning properties that can affect healing.
  • No lifting, stretching, or any other motion that could put stress on your incisions.
  • Take the full course of antibiotics as directed. Don’t skimp on your antibiotic medication, as the full course is required for it to perform as it should.
  • Take gentle walks from the first day on, but rest is your primary responsibility. The more you rest, the faster you will heal.
  • Eat healthy foods, drink lots of water, and avoid alcohol or excessive salt consumption.
  • Sleep with your upper body elevated on a foam wedge or extra pillows, and sleep on your back.

Breast Lift FAQs

How much does a breast lift cost?

A breast lift usually costs between $13,000 and $16,000.

Will I have visible scars after a breast lift?

The restoration of saggy, droopy breasts requires incisions. Any incisions will be placed carefully so that once healed, the scars will be invisible when wearing revealing clothing, including bras and bikinis.

Can my nipple size be reduced?

If you have stretched or elongated nipples, they can be surgically enhanced to be more attractive, as well as relocated on the newly reshaped breast mound so they are facing forward in a youthful, pert position. Learn more about Dr. Wirth's nipple reduction procedure here.

Do I need an augmentation with my breast lift?

If your breasts have lost volume, or you feel they are too small or uneven in size, your surgery can be a combination breast lift and breast augmentation to create harmony, balance, and a more alluring look.

Should I wait to have a breast lift until I am done having children?

It may be advised that you wait, as another pregnancy and breastfeeding could once again cause stretched, sagging skin. If you want a breast lift prior to having children, it is important that the surgery is performed very carefully so the nipple structure is protected, so inform our surgeon of your plans.
